Program Module

The NTA Level 4 programme has a total of 44 weeks of study which are divided in two semesters. Eleven (11)weeksare set aside for theoretical training and 33 weeks are designated for clinical practice.

 

The first semester is ment to provides basic nursing knowledge,skills and appropriate attitudes to students.Allmodules are fundamental and are intended to build students knowledge and skills necessary for acquiring competences for the practices of nursing; instill motivation for life long learning and good foundation for progress studies in nursing. The seconds semester is meant to consolidate knowledge and built technical and practical skills,hence enable students to gain apropiate clinical exposureand the application of basic concepts in this field of study.

 

 

CURRICULUM INFORMATION FOR NTA LEVEL 5

 

Qualification: Certificate in Nursing

 

Purpose of general studies:

 

This qualification is intended for a person who will play ann internal part in providing basic nursing services including health education, ordeling drugs and work under supervision of registered nurse in health care setting.

 

Programme duration

 

The first semester is geared towards enhancing students understanding of health problems in different village communities. During this semester students are expected to recognize the relationship between health and correlating social issues. In addition, student will learn different approaches in assessing community health problems and how to develop interventions. The second semester will be used to cement practical and problem solving skills to students while preparing them for workplace duties and responsibilities. It is during this semester that students will be expected to acquaint themselves with various working tools and start assuming responsibilities of enrolled nurses as required by the Tanzania Nurse and Midwives Council.

 

END OF SEMESTER EXAMINATIONS.

 

There shall be end of semester examination for each module, which shall be conducted for duration not exceeding three(3) hours but not less than two and a half(21/2) hours. Practical examinations shall be conducted within a period of one hour whereby 40 minutes will cover practical and 20 minutes will be for oral examination and evaluation Examinations for all modules administered at the end of semester I supervised by institutional tutors. Semester II shall be administered by the MOHSW.

 

CONDITIONS FOR END OF SEMESTER EXAMINATION

 

I.The leaner should complete all modules successfully.

 

II.She/heshould have met all the requirement for end of semester examination

 

III.At the end of semester II Examination exit level NTA level 5 each candidate must have covered 100% of:

 

·15 normal deliveries

 

·PV register book with ten (10) normal

 

·Practical general nursing and midwifery experience books

 

 

 

MINIMUM CREDIT REQUIRENT

 

This level has 9 modules, which are assigned a total of 120 credits.

 

Competence Descriptors:

 

The holder of the qualification will be able to apply skills and knowledge in a range of activities some of which are non – routine and be able to assume operational responsibilities.

 

Entry Requirement

 

A candidate who has successfully completed NTA level 4 with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0

 

Credit at this level: 120

 

Cumulative credits from lowest lever: 240

 

 

CURRICULUM INFORMATION REPORT FOR NTA LEVEL 6

 

Qualification:diploma in nursing and midwifery

 

Purpose of qualification:

 

The qualification is intended for people who autonomously play an integral part of patient care, participate in conducting research and utilize research findings, facilitates learning, administration roles and providing professional nursing care at all levels in health care setting.

 

Program duration

 

The first semester intended to enhance students applying Nursing process and other approaches in rendering nursing care, also utilizing Information Education Communication (IEC), Information Communication Technology (ICT) and entrepreneurship concept in promotion of health. During this semester the students are expected to acquire midwifery knowledge and skills in caring for women with abnormal pregnancy, labour and peuperium and newborn baby. The second semester will be acquiring skills in Leadership and Management in maintaining quality nursing care. It is during this semester that students will be familiarized with epidemiological, biostastitical technique,research in community health nursing practice.

 

END OF SEMESTER EXAMINATIONS.

This level has 9 modules, which are assigned a total of 120 credits.
